    For any two domains there may be several different analogies drawn (Clement & Genter, 1991; Keane 1997; Spellman & Holyoak, 1996). Simple cells play an important role in detection. Technically speaking, cognitive psychology is the study of mental skills, and cognitive development is concerned with the building and changing of these skills over time and with experience. That is, the attributes of the whole are not deducible from analysis of the parts in isolation. Where possible, conceptual and practical links will be established between our psychology content and content typical to non-psychology subjects so that students will be allowed to build on what they already know rather than beginning from scratch.
